Tonight we "painted."
We have these "paintbrushes" that are really just markers with pointy tips, like a paintbrush.
[Crayola, you are so clever, you.]
Do you like our homage to "The Circle With the Dot," as my niece calls it,
also known as Target.
Janie loves that symbol.
When I drew it, she looked at the door and made some little "let's go!" sounds.
[and I wondered, what have I done to my child?]
Then we drew the golden arches, because she knows those, too.
And then she made some big "let's go" sounds.
And when I explained that we weren't going there tonight,
she let out a few "we're not?" wails.
[really, what have we done to our child??]
But really,
I am pleased as punch.
Those things are environmental print, and she is reading them!
We drew circles and squares and triangles
and when Janie got bored watching me and trying to work the paintbrushes
she played with her extensive Easter egg collection [they make the best toys!]
I kept drawing
and writing names in cursive
and making waves
and swirls.
Why is coloring so soothing?
Maybe they should keep coloring books in hospitals and doctor's waiting rooms.
For the adults, I mean.
And at the dentist.
Though I'm not quite sure how it would work out when you are laying in the chair.
Maybe if you could color on the dentist's face.
Well, you wouldn't need laughing gas.
I really need to go to bed.

I love to color. I actually have some coloring books I will pull out some times to use just to destress! I totally agree with you! :)
