S[milestones]

Janie has been doing such exciting things!

A few times in the past month she brought a graham cracker to her mouth!
[once she tried it with a peppermint patty, too!]

Janie is giving loves!
She will tip her head to touch mine and let it rest there...
be still my heart!

She is infatuated with stripes! She wants me to wear them every day [she inspects my shirt, looking for them.]
She loves it when I *say* the pattern: "see, it's green, white, green, white, green..."
She is also fascinated with checkered patterns and picks them out in all her books.

Before the back brace she really couldn't/didn't raise her arms very high. Now one of her favorite things is to *reach up high* with both arms. She also does it when we say the word sky.
Sometimes we lay on the floor and do it together. I call it our yoga workout.

The return of the binky came about when, upon finding it accidentally left in her bed one day, Janie grabbed it and popped it in herself! We were so excited about this *independence day* that we declared an official holiday from further binky weaning. Our extended observance of this day has made it into what some might consider more of a festival. Celebrations include luxuriously longer naps and peacefully serene bedtimes... it's like Christmas all year round.

Other Janie tidbits:
In our front room we have a picture of the prophet.
Recently we had a Family Home Evening lesson about following the prophet, and we used that picture.
Now Janie wants to look at the picture every night during family scripture reading
[and it is the only thing that will keep her quiet.]

Janie L-O-V-E-S her bath!
When we turn on the water she lets out earsplitting shrieks of glee until we put her in the tub.
She lets out another squeal when we pull the drain.

Any bodily disruption will bring giggles from Janie: sneezing, burping, hiccuping, tooting, saying "excuse me" when such incidents occur, and even just your general outburst of surprise will do.

She is waving again.
But we usually have to call it a "beautiful wave" to get her to do it.
{
From queen bee to... pageant queen?}

Sometimes after her snack I will leave her in her high chair and pull it up next to the counter while I attempt kitchen cleanery. She squawks and fusses until I load or unload the dishwasher. For some reason she just really seems to like watching us put the dishes away.
Or maybe it's just that she likes ordering us around.

Still our sweet little {queen bee} after all.
