Dearest Summer

Dearest Summer,

I couldn't say goodbye without thanking you.

Thank you for letting Spring cut into some of your time this year.
That was really nice
(and really, was to be expected, since you did crowd it out the year before).
Thank you for all the delicious daily thunderstorms in June.
Thank you for balmy late afternoons reading on a blanket in the backyard with Janie.

Thanks for the bottles of peaches and pears to remember your sweetness by.

Thank you for luscious flower beds (the wasps in the nest on the stairs told me to make sure and mention those).
I suppose you want me to thank you for the new freckles, but I'm still not sure on that one.
Next year, just maybe, could we work on less freckles and more tan?

Until we meet again,

a fond farewell
Summer.

Very sincerely,

Meg

Ahh yes, fall is the best of all! But if you want more spring, less winter, you can always move up here =)
