August Rushed

August seemed long. But fun. Guess that's why I can't seem to remember what happened. That whole *time flies* thing ... let's see, then...

Jason
After quite a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, G5Nexus came to a [possibly temporary] halt on account of rain [i.e. funding issues]. Not surprisingly (though it seemed to be surprising to his bosses - you mean we have to pay you?) it has been put aside for Jason as he has pursued other ventures. The good thing about all of it is that he has been home more and we have loved having him around to play with. He has been especially wonderful to get Janie ready for bed most nights so I get a little breather (or a load of dishes running - wonderfulness either way). He was also my knight in shining armor, battling against injustice, inequality and heartlessness... meaning insurance companies.

Meg
A new blog, a birthday, a brother coming home,
a new haircut (bangs!), a Temple dedication, a sister coming to visit, family moving back from Minnesota, savoring Merlin, being dazzled by a Scarlet Pimpernel, and prospects of peaches and cream all combined to make Meg's month, well, peachy.

Janie
Janie decided that kissing and waving were out of style and promptly quit doing both. Fireworks are also out. WAY out. She also decided she was terrified of riding in the car with her cousin Cee (who does have a tendency to outbursts of the screaming sort). There's always Christmas to try again (there better be!) Her Case cousins have proven themselves loyal subjects by refilling her toy buckets for dumping and will even help her dump them. Janie's visit to the ophthalmologist (a fancy word for a fancy eye doctor [but he really is great]) was quite a surprise. She is ready to have the first of probably two or three surgeries to help correct her exotropia (eye wandering). I didn't think it would come so soon, but apparently this age is when they usually do it. The day is set for later on this Fall. Shouldn't be too bad... they'll just be pulling down her eyelid to cut a muscle and reattach it. She'll come home that day and in a few weeks we should see a difference. Still gives me a knot in my stomach, though. I apparently misunderstood when they said that it was just for cosmetic reasons (I stated this in an earlier post). Without the surgery, she will come to rely on only one eye for seeing. The back brace is helping (just not helping our clothes - the velcro has ruined more than one of mommy and daddy's shirts). She seems to sit up straighter when it's off, so that is a happy sign.

Is that Merlin that was on NBC? I love that show. I'm sad its over for now. But they really need to get the plot moving.
I hope Janie's surgery goes well. I can imagine its hard to think of it as her mom. It would give me lots of knots in my stomach too.
As always, glad to read your blog. :)
